John Gosden could be double-handed in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday.
Maqaasid has long been considered for the fillies’ Classic, but Clarehaven Stables could also be represented by The Shrew.
The former was the winner of last season’s Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and was third in the Nell Gwyn on her return.
The Shrew won well at Kempton earlier this month but will be a big outsider if she takes her chance.
Gosden has also entered Windsor scorer Izzi Top but she is more likely to compete in a Listed event on the same card.
“Maqaasid runs, and we might run a longshot in The Shrew,” the Newmarket handler said.
“She won the other day and the owner is keen to run.
“I’d have thought Izzi Top would be more likely to go for the Pretty Polly on the same day rather than going straight from a Windsor maiden into a Classic.”
Godolphin, by contrast, is likely to have just the one runner, Blue Bunting, with the unbeaten Zoowraa poised to head across the Channel to compete in the French equivalent.
“I think probably just one filly will run, more likely Blue Bunting, and maybe Zoowraa will go for the French Guineas,” racing manager Simon Crisford said.
Make A Dance, the major market mover for the Guineas, has been pleasing connections on the gallops.
Barry Hills’ filly has had only two runs to date.
She finished ninth of 13 on her debut before improving considerably to win at Newmarket by four lengths.
Make A Dance was slashed into around 14-1 from 33s recently and the Khalid Abdullah-owned youngster is displaying all the right signs.
“In the 1000 Guineas we have the lovely Empire Maker filly Make A Dance representing us,” www.barryhills.com reported.
“She was very impressive when she won her maiden at the end of last season at Newmarket and she has matured nicely over the winter.
“It is never easy to tell where you stand when it’s your first run of the year, but if her homework is anything to go by, she should have a good chance.”
